Busy times

Hey everyone, I hope you've been doing well. It's Mother's Day (see our post below), we're just hanging out so I had a chance to update everyone on what we've been doing.

A little bit ago, Kyoko and Ed came in to visit with me and meet Luke for the first time. We had lots of fun together.

Here's Kyoko getting to know Luke.

One of the fun things we did together was to go to the zoo for the Tunes and Bloom concert. Good times.

Luke appeared less interested.

The Cioffis came over to visit one night when Ed and Kyoko were in town. In this picture I was telling Max and Bella how fun it is to look out the window, and Kyoko tried to watch us all.

Here's Ed getting to know Luke too.

Mommy and Luke...everyone likes to hold him and I know he likes it too.

This is one of the only known family pictures. The scarcity of such pictures is probably mostly my fault as I am not big on posing, as can be seen here.

When our visitors left, Luke was tired.

A couple weeks ago we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for a fun Sunday visit. Here Daddy tries to teach about golf.

I quickly figured it out and was on my own.

I very much enjoyed Grandma...

...and then Lisa blowing bubbles.

Luke spent time hanging out with Greatgrandma...

...and Greatgrandpa

Back home, here's me helping out with Luke.

Julie helping out with Luke as well.

As mentioned above, I have renewed interest in looking out the window. So, if anyone is ever on Fourth Street, remember to look up for me.

One day last week I went over to visit Grandpa at work.

I helped him with one of his phone calls. "Hello....hello...."

I billed a quarter hour. Ha ha.

Daddy's favorite band is Phish. They sing probably the greatest song of all time, called My Soul. We usually listen to it in the car, but yesterday Daddy turned it on the TV. I was loving it.

When it was over, I was not loving it. So sad...(note twin tears rolling off chin)

Fortunately, they turned it back on and I was happy again.

So, that's it. More soon.

Love,
Jack

A conversation about Mommy

We have a double stroller now that Luke is here. He and I sit next to each other, up high, we both really like it. In addition to seeing what there is to see, it has also provided a time for us to relax with each other and talk (after all, we're still getting to know one another a little bit).

Here's a transcript of what we talked about the other day.

Jack: So, Luke, you're about 7 weeks old now. It seems like it's gone really fast. What are your thoughts on things to this point?

Luke: Oh, it's been great. I really like Mommy and Daddy, they are so good to me. And you've been super. I especially like how you like to put my pacifier in my mouth, sometimes even taking it out of my mouth just so you can put it in again. And you always make a point to say "Night, Night Baby" (even if you do so enthusiastically, loudly, and long after I've gone to sleep).

Jack: Of, course. Just trying to be a good big brother.

Luke: You definitely are that.

Jack: Do you have one favorite thing about your 7 weeks?

Luke: Well, it's so hard to pick one thing. We've done lots of fun things, seen and met many new fun and sweet people. You know, Jack, despite all of that, I think my favorite thing is being at home with you and Mommy and Daddy.

Jack: I agree. It's great.

Luke: And really, of that (no offense to you), I think Mommy is the person that sticks out the most. You seem to be able to generally feed yourself and sleep overnight, but my belly just gets so hungry and sometimes a little upset. I don't know what comes over me. Mommy spends to much time taking care of me, making sure I am clean, dry, fed, and happy. She cuddles me when I am sad or scared, I just love being with her.

Jack: I know what you mean, she did all of that for me too (yeah, I was first). Just wait, as you get older, you'll realize all the other things she does for you. She'll continue to take care of making sure you are clean and fed (though it's different...she makes some of the best food) but then your relationship with her will develop this new aspect, where she plays with us. She's pretty hilarious, she comes up with some of the best games and always wants to play. We have the best time playing around. She also tries to make me smart, she gets me soft clothes and makes sure they are always clean. I often catch her reading about what she can do to make my life better and it shows.

Luke: Wow, I didn't know about all of that. How does she have time for all of that?

Jack: Pretty crazy, huh? I don't know how it all gets done, to be honest. I just think she works incredibly hard at getting it all done, taking care of us; sometimes I don't think she sleeps much.
I am pretty sure that she does lots of things for Daddy too.

Luke: You mean Daddy can't take care of himself?

Jack: Not that I've been able to see.

Luke: Really?

Jack: Well, he does okay for himself, but Mommy is really the engine behind our family and he tells me that she does lots and lots of things for him too.

Luke: Wow, we're really lucky. I had no idea about all of this.

Jack: The other thing I think you're missing is that Mommy actually took care of you before you were hanging out here with us. But I don't quite understand how all of that works.

Luke: Incredible.

Jack: You wouldn't know about this, but the past few years there has been this thing called Mother's Day. I think it's on Sunday. Let's make a point of telling Mommy how much we love her and remind her how we appreciate everything she does for us.

Luke: Deal.

Jack: It looks like you are getting drowsy and I see some buses and trucks up ahead that I will need to be pointing out. Why don't you take a nap and when the time is right I will remind you that we need to say

We love you, Mommy.

Love,
Jack and Luke (and Daddy too)
